Role Purpose
With the Kal Tire AIMS in mind, the Supervisor is responsible for the overall management of the MTG site, ensuring that all safety standards are met, team members are well trained and supervised, and that Kal Tire delivers on the contractual Scope of Works and KPI’s.
Core Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Assists the recruitment of site service personnel (in conjunction with the AM (or GM).
- Ensures safe work performance of the tyre service team.
- Ensures the effective performance and development of the team by setting clear role objectives and service standards, providing information, tools and processes to get the job done.
- Manages unacceptable team member performance in accordance with Kal Tire performance management guidelines.
- Oversees delivery of improvement plans and projects for the team.
- Manages the service activities within agreed contractual Scope of Works and KPI’s, as per Contract Management Plan, and Tyre Management Plan.
Health & Safety
- Implements the intent of the Safety Management Plan.
- Ensures all aspects of Kal Tire’s Health and Safety Program are communicated and implemented in a consistent manner with all Team Members, including; FLRA, Hazard Analysis, SWP’s, Accident/Incident Investigation and Reporting, Monthly Safety Meetings and Inspections, Due Diligence, etc.
- Holds and documents regular safety and tool box talks with team members.
- Ensures all safety and CSR activities comply with our policies and procedures.
- Provides leadership regarding our safety and CSR practices.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of environmental goals and objectives.
Training & Development
- Ensures team member career development plans are documented, organized, readily available and up to date as per the applicable progression timelines.
- Ensures all site specific and tyre maintenance competencies / licenses are documented and up to date in the Kal Tire Training system.
- Assesses / identify additional training requirements to help improve our effectiveness and efficiency.
- Conducts and documents annual team member Performance Reviews in a consistent manner.
Communication
- Provides input into a monthly site report – using defined KPI’s to benchmark performance.
- Provides daily, weekly, monthly reporting to the customer as required.
- Attends and participates in regularly scheduled customer meetings.
- Provides continuous feedback to team members in regards to customer activities, changes in policies or procedures, changing safety and mining legislation, industry practices and national competency standards relating to earthmover tyres and rims and maintenance, company updates / changes, team member performance, etc.
Standard of Service
- Manages the contract as per the Contract Management Plan
- Manages Safety as per the HSECMP
Manages the client tyre and rim asset as per the Tyre Management Plan. This includes Kal Tire standard tyre management practices such as but not limited to:

- Contributes to tyre maintenance plan
- Pressure maintenance.
- Tyre rotation and matching.
- Receipt/dispatch management
- Manages tyre and rim database accurately and in timely manner.
- Manages rim NDT.
- Manages the disposal of all scrap tyres in accordance with all statutory, regulatory, environmental and client’s policies.
- Validates tyre / rim data collection accuracy and input in ‘Total Tyre Control™’.
- Manages suppliers and inventory to maintain adequate stock levels of tyres, rims, accessories and consumables.
- Manages scrap tyre disposal to enable historical reporting on ‘rubber disposed’ for EPA purposes.
- Carries out “special projects” related to tyre performance as reasonably requested by site management.
- Completes reporting KPI’s within designated timelines.
- Trains site operational and maintenance personnel to ensure education of best operating practices relevant to tyres and rims.
Policies & Procedures
- Take all reasonable measures to ensure compliance with relevant Company, Customer or Governmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure Kal Tire S.W.P’s are up to date, reviewed, readily available, followed and enforced.
- Ensure all customer specific orientations and S.W.P’s and policies are understood and followed.
- Ensure that F.L.R.A ‘s are conducted and completed as required.
Customer & Industry Knowledge
- Develop and maintain a knowledge and documentation of the customer business with regards to fleet size, forecasting, operating hours, utilization, scrap average, mine plan, haul profile, future growth or reduction, etc.
- Analyze and provide the proper tyres and product selection for applications to ensure best value.
- Measure and understand the customer’s annual tyre needs and related costs.
- Educate the customer and his operations as to areas of improvement through Tyre Awareness presentations.

Promotion and Hiring Criteria
Work Experience:
- Desirable - 5 years operations experience within the tyre maintenance/management industry or related field.
- Desirable - a minimum of 2 years supervisory leadership experience.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of people both verbally and written.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment to identify and resolve problems, under pressure.
- Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines and targets.
- Experience of undertaking administrative work in an office environment.
- Motivated, self-starter who can find solutions.
- Ensure best application of allocated and available resources.
- Understands safe methods of work procedures and safety performance measures.
- Understands tyre failure causes and analysis.
- Understands the invoicing cycle and importance of deadlines, monthly data analysis, and tyre management reporting.
- Understands the importance of tyre maintenance plans being carried out safely to OTR standards for optimum performance and casing generation.
Education:
- High School Diploma is desirable or similar operations or related field experience.

- LF ( Forklift ) National High Risk Work Licence
- Operate a Forklift – Tyre Handler
