About the role
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Access Scaffold Team Leader to lead the engineering design and certification of complex industrial access scaffolding projects.
This is a senior technical and leadership role suited to a Chartered Structural Engineer with substantial hands-on experience designing and certifying industrial access scaffolding systems.
You will lead a specialist engineering team while remaining actively involved in complex engineering work — reviewing project requirements, developing solutions, undertaking structural analysis, reviewing designs and providing engineering certification.
Our industrial access projects regularly involve challenging geometries, significant loads, unusual support conditions and bespoke scaffold arrangements. The role offers the opportunity to work on interesting, technically demanding projects across major industrial sites throughout Australia.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead the engineering delivery of industrial access scaffold projects
Manage, mentor and provide technical direction to engineers and designers within the team
Design, analyse, review and certify complex access scaffolding systems
Undertake structural analysis and detailed engineering calculations for conventional and bespoke scaffold arrangements
Develop practical engineering solutions for complex site constraints and unusual access requirements
Undertake and review FEA and frame analysis models
Review Revit models, engineering drawings and design documentation
Ensure designs comply with applicable Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and safety-in-design requirements
Provide technical support to project, sales and site teams
Liaise directly with clients regarding engineering requirements and technical solutions
Resolve complex engineering and site issues
Review and approve engineering documentation prior to issue
Support the technical development and mentoring of engineers within the wider engineering team
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status – essential
Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Significant experience designing and certifying industrial access scaffolding systems – essential
Strong structural engineering and temporary works design capability
Professional Autodesk REVIT experience
Strong experience using structural analysis / FEA software such as SpaceGass, Microstran, RSTAB or Strand7
Strong understanding of Australian structural design standards and scaffolding codes of practice
Demonstrated ability to undertake detailed structural calculations and independently verify complex designs
Experience leading, mentoring or technically supervising engineers
Strong practical understanding of construction and scaffold erection methodology
Ability to develop practical solutions to unusual and technically challenging problems
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to take a leading technical role within a major Australian temporary works and access engineering business.
You will work on a broad range of interesting and challenging industrial access projects, with the opportunity to influence engineering solutions from initial concept through to final certification and site delivery.
The position combines technical engineering, project leadership and people leadership, while allowing you to remain closely involved in the complex engineering work.
We offer a competitive salary package based on experience, strong technical support and the opportunity to work with a large national engineering team.
Sydney is the preferred location, with the role also available from our Stapylton, Brisbane office.
If you are an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer with specialist industrial scaffold design experience and are ready to lead technically challenging projects and a high-performing engineering team, we would like to hear from you.
