Community Connectors – IMR

This is two full-time, maximum-term positions available until 30 June 2027, with the opportunity for extension, subject to ongoing funding.

Maranguka is seeking two dedicated Community Connectors to join our Improving Multidisciplinary Responses (IMR) Program. This role builds strong and trusted relationships between First Nations families, community members and service providers, helping to ensure families can access culturally safe, coordinated and responsive support.

Working alongside families, Elders, community stakeholders and partner agencies, you will act as a key link between community and services, supporting improved collaboration, reducing barriers to access, and ensuring family and community voices help shape service responses and program delivery.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain respectful relationships with First Nations families, Elders, community members and local stakeholders.
• Support families to access culturally safe services and navigate health, education, family support, child protection, justice and other service systems.
• Act as a trusted link between families, communities, service providers and the IMR Program.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, community forums, yarning circles and other collaborative activities.
• Advocate for families and communities by identifying barriers to service access and promoting practical, culturally appropriate solutions.
• Maintain accurate records, referrals and reports, while contributing to continuous improvement and program evaluation activities.

Requirements for Success

• Qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Aboriginal Studies or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities and/or community-led programs.
• Strong relationship-building, communication and advocacy skills.
• Experience supporting individuals and families to access services and navigate complex systems.
• Understanding of culturally safe, strengths-based and trauma-informed practice.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence.
• A paid Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

What We Offer

– A competitive hourly rate starting from $40.49 (dependent on experience, skills and qualifications) – This position is covered under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS)
