Primary objective
You will strengthen and sustain the Aboriginal educator workforce by leading the implementation of the Remote Aboriginal Teacher
Education (RATE) program and supporting Aboriginal educators to access professional learning and career pathways into teaching
and specialist education roles. As part of the School Leadership, Culture and Care leadership team, you will lead regional RATE
Professional Learning Leaders (PLL) and support school-based RATE champions to build workforce capability, cultural
responsiveness and representation across Northern Territory schools.
Context statement
School Leadership, Culture and Care (SLCC) supports workforce attraction, development and sustainability by strengthening
workforce systems, frameworks and partnerships that enable school leaders to make informed workforce decisions. A key priority
is strengthening cultural responsiveness across the education system, recognising its role in staff wellbeing, inclusion, trust and
improved outcomes for students and communities.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate RATE PLL onboarding, training, meetings and communication platforms ensuring role clarity and rigor.
2. Guide RATE PLLs and school-based RATE champions in supporting school leaders and Aboriginal educators in line with the
NT Department of Education and Training Cultural Responsiveness Framework.
3. Develop and document RATE PLL resources and processes creating efficiencies and consistency across regions/schools.
4. Co-lead the Aboriginal Educator team to meet deliverables, contributing to continuous improvement and sustainability.
5. Coordinate data collection/collation to inform evidence-based decision making and measure program impact over time.
6. Utilise effective collaborative professional networks and relationships, with senior regional leaders to inform Aboriginal
educator workforce initiatives and strategically align activities for maximum impact.
7. Coordinate, prepare and provide strategic advice on high-level correspondence, briefings and reports.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive experience working within cross cultural and/or remote education settings.
2. Demonstrated experience in analysing data, developing communication materials and writing high level correspondence.
3. Highly developed leadership and management skills with proven ability to achieve outcomes leveraging individual and
collective strengths within teams for high performance.
4. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills in range of educational, industry or community environments.
5. Demonstration of initiative and development/implementation of program plans that align to strategic objectives.
6. Highly developed engagement skills including the ability to innovate, manage change and influence outcomes across
organisational boundaries with a diverse range of stakeholders.
7. Extensive experience in implementation and evaluation of evidence-based educator workforce initiatives.
Desirable
1. A degree in education or other relevant discipline.
2. Project management experience.
3. Experience in implementing and managing VET and Higher Education programs in complex cross-cultural environments.

Applicants are required to have a current working with children clearance notice (Ochre Card), a current driver’s licence, and be
willing to travel remotely by 4WD and in light aircraft. This position requires staying overnight in remote communities.
