Customs Broker

Due to growth we are seeking an enthusiastic Customs Broker to join our Customs team. You will work closely with our internal teams and will be a critical team member who ensures efficient and compliant customs clearance for a broad range of commodities.

The position vacant can be filled at any of our Australian office locations being Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide or Perth.

Tasks for the role include;

-Formal lodgment of customs declarations

-Provide mentorship and support to compilers/classifiers

-Assess commodity and non commodity documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance

-Understand a diverse range of commodities and ensure classification is in line with Government Acts and Regulations

-Strive to identify and use the lowest rate of duty and GST for all entries

-Ensure CP questions are answered accurately with supporting detail

-Ensure outcomes such as directions are accurate and as desired

-Provide a high level of customer service internally and externally for technical advice matters

-Assist with internal audits

-Complete refund and drawback applications as required.

-Collaborate with our advisory team

-Identify opportunities for process improvement

-Maintain knowledge of relative legislations  -Attend seminars as required for learning and current events. Online and face-to-face

-Maintain government relations and monitor border watch concerns

Experience and skills required for this role include;

• Must have current Australian Customs Brokers Licence
• CPD completed historically and up to date currently
• Must have 19.1 and 19.2 approved arrangement accreditation with DAFF
• Strong understanding of government regulations and law, international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and INCOTERMS.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• CW1 experience preferred
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge and experience lodging a diverse range of commodities.
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with BICON and COLS.
• Motivated individual who works well within a corporate, compliance-focused industry environment.
• Teamwork oriented.
• Comply with Quality Management System requirements.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience. All operations within Harders are Australian based. Hybrid working arrangements of 3 days per week in office available for the right candidate.
