Health, Safety and Environmental Professional (HSE Professional)

Job Description

The HSE Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving GreenPoint Energy's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System across Australia. The role provides strategic and operational HSE leadership to development, construction and operational projects, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, corporate standards and industry best practice.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience5–10 years' experience in Health, Safety and Environment, preferably within renewable energy, construction, utilities or infrastructure. Diploma or tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent). Sound knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, environmental obligations and industry best practice. Experience supporting both construction and operational environments. Strong understanding of contractor management, risk assessment, incident investigation and auditing processes. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Current Australian Driver License and willingness to travel interstate to project sites as required.

Key responsibilities

Implement, maintain and continuously improve the HSE Management System across all Australian operations and projects. Develop and implement HSE strategies, policies, procedures and standards that support business growth and operational excellence. Provide expert HSE advice and support across project development, construction and operational phases, including risk management, contractor management and regulatory compliance. Lead the transition of projects from construction into operations, ensuring effective HSE governance, operational readiness and compliance. Ensure compliance with Australian WHS and environmental legislation, ISO standards and internal corporate requirements through monitoring, reporting and auditing activities. Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, implement corrective actions and drive continual improvement initiatives. Develop and deliver HSE training, awareness programs and safety campaigns to improve competency and promote a proactive safety culture. Conduct site inspections, audits and assurance activities, tracking actions through to completion. Support contractor prequalification, mobilisation, performance monitoring and ongoing HSE assurance. Prepare monthly HSE reports, KPI dashboards and executive reporting for senior management and project stakeholders. Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, contractors and industry bodies on HSE matters. Promote a culture of continuous improvement through effective leadership, coaching and engagement with employees and contractors.
