About us

The Model Shop provides high-quality scale models to many different industries. You will be part of a small friendly team of skilled model makers, making all manner of models from Apartments buildings to processing plants to highly confidential technology prototypes to silicone body parts.

Qualifications & experience

• Previous model-making experience essential

• Presentation model making capability

• Proficiency in 3d and 2d CAD

• Attention to detail

• Experience in laser cutting and 3D printing

• Experience in wood fabrication

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on tight deadline

• Architectural drawings knowledge is an advantage but not essential

Tasks & responsibilities

• Select suitable materials and 3D printing techniques for model creation Operate 3D printers and laser cutters to create components and prototypes, and perform post-processing for finish enhancement Construct and assemble parts with precision, employing hand-building techniques where necessary.

• Translate drawings and design concepts into detailed 3D models using CAD software.

• Plan and manage model projects to meet project goals and budgets. Adjust processes to meet targets where necessary. Report on progress.

• Regularly maintain equipment to ensure smooth operation.

• Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in the model-making and 3D printing processes.

• Keep the working area organised, neat and tidy.

• Utilize project scheduling and control tools to monitor project plans, labor hours, budgets, and expenditures in order to ensure customer needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
