We're looking for an experienced Leading Hand – Service Technician (Mechanical) to join our Salisbury workshop.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Heavy Vehicle/Trailer Technician looking to step into a leadership role, or an established Leading Hand looking for their next opportunity.

You'll lead and support a team of Service Technicians responsible for the servicing, maintenance and mechanical repair of semi-trailers, with the role combining technical expertise, fault finding and day-to-day team leadership.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead, support and supervise a team of Service Technicians.

• Allocate daily tasks and coordinate workflow to meet workshop priorities and deadlines.

• Perform and oversee servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on semi-trailers.

• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide practical technical guidance.

• Ensure work is completed to a high standard and in line with company and manufacturer requirements.

• Monitor workmanship and identify opportunities to improve quality and workshop efficiency.

• Conduct safety checks and participate in toolbox talks.

• Complete and review job cards, service records and maintenance documentation.

• Keep the Workshop Supervisor updated on workflow, priorities, issues and resource requirements.

• Provide hands-on technical support, coaching and mentoring to team members.

About You

• Australian-recognised Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent heavy vehicle mechanical trade qualification).

• Strong experience in semi-trailer servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and mechanical repairs.

• Previous Leading Hand, supervisory or team leadership experience highly regarded.

• Strong technical knowledge of semi-trailer mechanical systems and components.

• Excellent mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• A strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

• The ability to work effectively within a diverse and multi-skilled workshop team.
