About the role
Moss Environmental Pty Ltd
Full-time | Tamworth, hybrid or remote
Salary—negotiable based on experience
Moss Environmental is a specialist environmental consultancy delivering practical, high-quality solutions across environmental assessment, approvals, compliance, auditing, environmental management and natural resource management.
Our experienced team works across eastern Australia, supporting clients in sectors including mining, construction, infrastructure, renewable energy, government and industry. We have built a strong reputation for responsive service, sound technical advice and solutions that work in the real world.
We are a collaborative and flexible business that values professional excellence, accountability and sustainable work practices. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced environmental professional who wants to take ownership of projects, mentor others and contribute meaningfully to the future of the company.
This is an influential role for a capable and commercially minded Senior Environmental Consultant or Environmental Engineer.
Working closely with the Director, you will manage environmental projects from proposal through to completion, build trusted client relationships and supervise environmental consultants and junior team members. You will have the autonomy to lead your work while remaining part of a supportive, experienced and collaborative team.
The position can be based at our Tamworth head office, undertaken on a hybrid basis or performed remotely for the right candidate. As our projects extend across eastern Australia, regular travel will form part of the role.
In this role, you will:
Lead and coordinate environmental projects across a range of sectors and locations
Take ownership of project scope, budgets, programs, deliverables and client outcomes
Prepare high-quality technical reports, proposals, quotations and tender submissions
Develop practical, well-considered solutions in collaboration with clients and project stakeholders
Ensure projects and reports are delivered within agreed timeframes and quality requirements
Manage and mentor environmental consultants and junior team members
Review technical work and contribute to consistent, high-quality project outputs
Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to provide additional value
Contribute information, ideas and recommendations to operational and strategic planning
Support business development and help grow Moss Environmental’s project portfolio
Maintain current knowledge through professional development, industry networks and relevant professional organisations
Participate in meetings, training, industry events and company activities
Comply with company quality, environmental, safety and professional standards.
You will be a proactive environmental professional who enjoys solving complex problems, working directly with clients and taking responsibility for successful project delivery.
To succeed in this position, you will bring:
A degree in environmental engineering, environmental science or a related discipline
Certification in CPESC/RSP-ESC, CEnvP or REAP is highly desirable
Relevant experience in environmental consulting, engineering, approvals, compliance or project delivery
Demonstrated experience managing environmental projects, deadlines and client expectations
Strong technical research, analysis and report-writing skills
The ability to think laterally and develop practical solutions to real-world environmental issues
Experience preparing project proposals, scopes and fee estimates
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
The ability to supervise, support and mentor other consultants
Sound commercial awareness and an understanding of working within a small professional consultancy
Excellent time management, initiative, professional presentation, adaptability and personal accountability
A current driver licence and willingness to travel for project work.
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly regarded:
Environmental impact assessment and planning approvals
Mining, construction, infrastructure or renewable-energy projects
Environmental compliance, auditing or management systems
Contaminated land, hydrology, erosion and sediment control, ecology or natural resource management
Site inspections, field investigations and construction-phase environmental support.
Some assignments may require work during construction or mining hours, including occasional early starts, extended days or weekends. These requirements will depend on project needs and will be communicated in advance wherever practicable.
This is an opportunity to join a growing consultancy where your experience, ideas and contribution will be visible and valued. You will benefit from:
Genuine ownership of projects and client relationships
Direct access to and collaboration with the company Director
The opportunity to influence operational and strategic decisions
Flexible working arrangements and location options
Diverse projects across eastern Australia
Opportunities to mentor others and help develop a growing team
A positive environment that supports professional growth, collaboration and work-life balance.
Please submit your résumé and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience, preferred working location and why you are interested in joining Moss Environmental.
