Senior Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to our business. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our financial operations and reporting infrastructure. As Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial accounting and reporting services that support strategic decision-making across the organisation. This role is integral to ensuring the accuracy, timeliness and compliance of our financial reporting, and will have a significant impact on the broader business.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing, reviewing and maintaining accurate financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements

• Managing the general ledger, including account reconciliations, journal entries and month-end and year-end close processes

• Analysing financial data and identifying variances, preparing explanations and recommendations for management

• Coordinating with external auditors and preparing supporting documentation for audit procedures

• Implementing and maintaining internal controls and financial policies to ensure compliance and minimise risk

• Assisting with the preparation of management accounts, financial reports and ad-hoc analysis to support business requirements

• Participating in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations

• Staying current with changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with IFRS/local GAAP.

• Develop insightful management reports to support strategic decisions.

• Coordinate and consolidate budgets and forecasts across departments.

• Familiar with Manufacturing environment including cost accounting.

• Manage the weekly payroll and disbursements.

• Fair Work & Modern Award Expertise: Essential for a production company to accurately calculate complex overtime, shift allowances, and penalty rates.

• STP Phase 2 & Superannuation: Must have proven experience handling Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting and managing superannuation.

What we're looking for

• A recognised accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, CAANZ or equivalent professional designation

• Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably within a corporate or manufacturing environment

• Strong technical knowledge of financial accounting principles, AIFRS and accounting systems

• Demonstrated experience in preparing and managing financial statements and month-end or year-end close processes

• Proficiency with accounting software and financial reporting systems, including ERP platforms

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools

• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical capability to identify and resolve accounting issues

• The ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

• A commitment to maintaining professional standards and ethical practices in financial reporting

• Familiarity with local payroll tax thresholds and WorkCover management for 40 staff

• Experience in full cycle of Financial ERP system.  Experience in SAP 4 Hana or Syspro system will be added advantage
