South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is seeking aspiring managers looking to take the next step in their career. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals wanting to be a part of the future leadership for the healthcare system.
Apply now for the 2027 cohort of the SESLHD Health Management Graduate Program!
What you'll be doing
The purpose of the SESLHD Health Management Graduate Program is to develop skilled and committed health leaders and managers for the future. We offer an exciting and comprehensive two-year graduate program with two main components:
1. Workplace Component:
Participants in the SESLHD Health Management Graduate Program work full-time for SESLHD, undertaking placements of 3-6 months duration through such areas as Hospital Management, Human Resources, Finance and the Executive Unit.
SESLHD participants are developed and supported throughout the program via a range of professional development activities, including training, attendance at events and mentoring, which have been designed to support and develop participants and prepare them for a successful career.
2. Academic Component:
To complement the workplace learning and accelerate their knowledge, Management Trainees undertake a Master's degree in health management (or equivalent) on a part-time basis and in online mode.
Throughout the program, the progress of Management Trainees is measured against the NSW Public Sector Capability Framework and program requirements.
Participants are required to successfully undertake and complete all components and requirements of the program within the two years of the program in order to progress and graduate.
The program can be demanding and will challenge you - but if you are hard-working and motivated to make the most of the opportunity, this program will kick-start your career in health management!
How it works
Start date and duration: The two-year program commences late-January 2027 and ends late December 2028.
Management Trainees are employed on a contract of up to three years. Following successful completion of all the requirements of the two-year program, Management Trainees are supported for up to a further 12 months, to December 2029, to allow you time after completion of the program to find that next great role.
Hours: The role generally works Monday to Friday during business hours.
Work practices: Due to the nature of our organisation as a healthcare provider, most of our staff are not able to work from home. SESLHD does support flexible working and remote working for some roles where appropriate. For the SESLHD Health Management Graduate Program, you should be ready to work from the office five days a week, to ensure you maximise your learning experience and to ensure we are providing the best possible support to our clinical services.
