About the role
The Precinct Tavern is the flagship venue within our hospitality group, operating alongside five other successful venues across Darwin. Known for our premium craft beer offering, vibrant atmosphere and high-volume service, we're looking for an exceptional Head Chef to take our kitchen to the next level.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of an established and successful kitchen while having the freedom to shape its future.
We're not simply looking for someone to run a roster and service. We're looking for a leader who can inspire a team, mentor the next generation of chefs, drive innovation and continue building one of Darwin's premier food destinations.

The OpportunityReporting directly to the Directors and Venue Manager, you'll have responsibility for all kitchen operations within one of the Northern Territory's highest-volume hospitality venues.
Our menu is built around quality modern pub dining with an increasing focus on premium smoked meats and low-and-slow cooking. We want someone who can embrace this direction while bringing their own creativity, ideas and leadership to the role.
You'll have the opportunity to:
Lead and mentor a large kitchen brigade.
Develop menus and seasonal specials.
Continue expanding our smoked food program.
Build a strong, positive and accountable kitchen culture.
Recruit, train and develop future chefs.
Drive consistency, quality and presentation.
Manage labour costs, food costs and kitchen performance.
Oversee ordering, stock control and supplier relationships.
Maintain exceptional food safety and HACCP standards.
Work alongside senior management to help shape the future of the business.
You'll be an experienced hospitality professional who leads from the front.
You understand that a successful kitchen isn't built solely on great food—it's built on strong leadership, organisation, consistency and developing people.
You'll bring:
Trade qualifications as a Chef.
Experience leading high-volume kitchens.
Outstanding leadership and communication skills.
A passion for mentoring and building strong teams.
Excellent financial understanding of food cost, GP and labour management.
Creativity and confidence with menu development.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
A calm, professional approach during busy service.
A commitment to maintaining the highest food safety standards.
Competitive salary package from $90,000 to $110,000+ Super, based on experience, leadership and proven performance.

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 + Super
