Machine operator- tube bending, mandrel bending

About the role

We are a family owned business is seeking an experienced Machine Operator specialising in tube bending and mandrel bending to join our manufacturing team. This is a full-time position based in St Marys, NSW. As a Machine Operator, you will play a crucial role in our production operations, operating and maintaining specialised tube bending and mandrel bending equipment to deliver high-quality components that meet our clients' exacting specifications. This position is essential to our manufacturing capabilities and directly impacts our ability to meet production targets and maintain our reputation for precision engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Operate tube bending and mandrel bending machines in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications

• Set up equipment, including die selection, tooling configuration and machine parameters

• Monitor machine operations to ensure consistent quality and adherence to tolerances

• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of bending equipment to ensure optimal performance

• Inspect finished components for defects and dimensional accuracy

• Record production data and maintain accurate documentation of output and machine performance

• Identify and report equipment issues or faults to maintenance personnel

• Work collaboratively with production supervisors and team members to meet production schedules

• Comply with all health and safety procedures and workplace requirements

What we're looking for

• Proven experience operating tube bending machines, mandrel bending equipment or similar CNC/automated machinery

• Strong understanding of tube bending processes, bend radii, springback and material properties

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to precise specifications

• Experience in setting up tooling, dies and machine parameters

• Proficiency in measuring components using calipers, micrometres or other precision instruments

• Mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills

• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

• Valid driver's licence (preferred)

• Safety certification or willingness to obtain relevant qualifications such as forklift operation or working at heights (preferred)

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment

• Reliability and strong work ethic
