About the role

Vellas Panel Works is seeking an experienced Panel Beater to join our team in Morwell, VIC. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on a variety of vehicle repairs. As a Panel Beater, you will play a crucial role in restoring vehicles to their original condition, utilising your technical expertise and precision craftsmanship. You'll be part of a dedicated team committed to delivering high-quality panel beating and automotive repair services.

What you'll be doing

• Assess vehicle damage and determine the most effective repair approach

• Remove dents, creases and other damage from vehicle panels using hand tools and specialised equipment

• Perform welding operations where necessary to repair or replace damaged panels

• Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, grinding and filling as required

• Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications

• Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used

• Operate and maintain panel beating equipment in accordance with health and safety protocols

• Collaborate with other team members and the workshop management to prioritise work schedules

• Perform quality inspections on completed work to ensure customer satisfaction

What we're looking for

• A recognised apprenticeship or qualification in panel beating or automotive body repair

• Proven experience working as a panel beater in a professional automotive workshop environment

• Strong proficiency with panel beating hand tools and power tools

• Experience with welding techniques relevant to vehicle panel repair

• Sound knowledge of vehicle body structures and repair methodologies

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and repair manuals

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently

• A valid driver's licence is preferred

• Current First Aid certification is advantageous

• Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment
