Volunteer Manager / Area Co-ordinators (Voluntary)

About the Role

We’re seeking people to help co-ordinate our volunteer team, ensuring everyone who steps forward to help is welcomed, supported and matched to tasks that suit their skills and availability.

There are two related roles available: an overarching volunteer manager or co-ordinator to lead volunteer strategy and systems across the whole campaign, and several area co-ordinators to lead volunteer teams and activity within specific areas of the Croydon District.

This is your chance to play a key role in a campaign that prioritises community voices over party politics – a campaign that sits at the heart of a grassroots movement built on listening, transparency, and authentic community engagement.

Volunteer Manager / Co-ordinator

• Opportunity to manage the volunteer function campaign-wide
• Develop and oversee volunteer recruitment, onboarding and rostering systems
• Recruit, brief and support area co-ordinators across the electorate
• Match volunteers to tasks based on skills, interests and availability
• Track volunteer numbers, hours and coverage to identify gaps ahead of key campaign dates
• Foster a positive, inclusive and motivated volunteer culture
• Work closely with campaign leadership to align volunteer effort with campaign priorities

Area Co-ordinators

• Lead and support a team of volunteers for a specific area of the electorate
• Co-ordinate local activities such as doorknocking, letterboxing, stalls and events
• Act as the first point of contact for volunteers in your area, keeping them informed and engaged
• Report back to the volunteer manager/co-ordinator on local activity, numbers and needs
• Help identify and encourage new volunteers within your area

Skills and experience

We're looking for people who are enthusiastic, organised and reliable. Strong people skills as well as a knack for keeping things on track are important.

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Self-motivated and time-flexible
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support others
• Prior experience co-ordinating volunteers or teams is helpful but not essential
• Commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, and respectful political engagement

Commitment

This is a voluntary position. Hours and timing are flexible and can be tailored to your availability.

While aspects of the roles can be done remotely, there is obviously a need to be ‘onsite’ or in the office for some activities.

Our candidate has been formally endorsed by Voices of Deakin. However, the campaign operates independently from Voices of Deakin, and will recruit, manage, and run its own team and strategy.
