About the role
Call To Action | St Kilda, Melbourne | Initial 3 month employment contract | 32 hours - 40 hours per week
Own client relationships. Bring clarity to delivery. Help build an agency where purpose meets performance.
About Call To Action
Call To Action is an integrated fundraising and marketing agency helping not for profits and purpose led brands turn awareness into action, income and measurable impact. Since launching 2 years ago, we’ve partnered with organisations including Lock The Gate, Life Flight NZ, Refugee Advice & Casework Service and Assistance Dogs Australia.
Our work spans fundraising strategy, campaigns, creative and digital marketing across Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
We’re growing, and this newly created role is an opportunity to join early, work closely with our founder and help shape how the agency operates as it grows.
The opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Account Manager to become the trusted day to day lead for our clients and take ownership of how work moves through the agency. You’ll initially join Call To Action on a 3 month employment contract, working 32 hours per week. The genuine intention is for the right person to transition into an ongoing permanent full time role at the end of that period, subject to performance, business requirements and agreement from both sides.
You’ll have genuine flexibility around how you structure the initial 32 hours. You might choose to work 4 full days or spread shorter days across the week. What matters is that client commitments, team collaboration and delivery requirements are covered.
Your primary focus will be owning client relationships and the delivery of fundraising strategy, creative, campaign and performance marketing work.
You’ll connect clients, our founder, our Performance Media Manager and a talented network of freelance strategists and creatives. You’ll keep everyone clear, aligned and moving while protecting the quality, scope, timing and commercial health of the work.
This isn’t a narrow account service role, but you won’t be expected to be a specialist in every channel. You’ll know how to ask the right questions, assess work against a brief and bring the right people together to deliver it properly.
There’s also room to contribute to campaign planning, fundraising strategy, creative development and Call To Action’s own marketing, depending on your strengths and interests.
What you’ll own
Client relationships• Build trusted client relationships and become the first point of contact for day to day needs.• Lead WIPs, status meetings, kick offs and selected reporting conversations.• Turn client objectives, feedback and decisions into clear actions for the delivery team.• Manage approvals, expectations and difficult conversations with clarity and sound judgement.
Delivery and project control• Own the delivery of fundraising strategy, creative, campaign and performance marketing work from briefing through to completion.• Maintain a clear master schedule across every live project and keep ClickUp accurate and current.• Coordinate internal and freelance contributors, setting clear briefs, responsibilities, deadlines and review points.• Check work against the agreed brief before it reaches the client.• Identify risks early, resolve what you can and escalate decisions that genuinely need senior input.
Commercial and freelance management• Keep projects aligned with the agreed scope, budget and timeline.• Prepare and maintain estimates, track hours and flag potential overages before they become problems.• Protect project margins without compromising the client relationship or quality of delivery.• Support the sourcing, contracting, onboarding and briefing of freelance partners.
Supporting agency growth• Support our founder during the sales process by helping scope opportunities and develop tailored proposals.• Onboard new clients by securing access, agreeing ways of working and building practical delivery plans.• Help improve the systems, templates and operating rhythms that will support the agency’s growth.
What success looks likeWithin your first 3 months:• Clients see you as a trusted, responsive and commercially aware partner.• Every live project has clear ownership, scope, timing, budget and next steps.• Work moves smoothly across clients, internal contributors and freelancers, with risks identified early.• Our founder has more space to focus on strategy, relationships and growth because day to day delivery is in safe hands.
About youYou’re an experienced agency account or delivery professional who enjoys being close to both clients and the work. You bring order to moving parts, make practical decisions and take ownership without waiting to be asked. You’re commercially aware, comfortable working with different specialists and able to move confidently between client conversations, delivery detail and broader agency priorities.
Essential experience• Strong experience in agency account management, delivery or project management, ideally at Senior Account Manager level.• Evidence of owning client relationships and delivering several projects or workstreams at once.• Confidence managing scopes, estimates, budgets, hours, timelines and margins.• Experience coordinating internal teams and freelance specialists.• Enough digital literacy to assess a campaign or media plan against the brief, understand performance against objectives and recognise strong digital creative.• Clear communication, strong attention to detail and sound judgement about what to resolve and what to escalate.• Confidence using a project management platform. We use ClickUp, but experience with a comparable system is equally valuable.
Useful, but not essential• Experience working with charities, not for profits or purpose led organisations.• Exposure to fundraising campaigns, regular giving or individual giving programs.• Experience supporting new business proposals, campaign planning or strategy.
Why join Call To Action• Work directly with the founder and have genuine influence over how the agency develops.• Build breadth across strategy, campaigns, creative, digital and performance marketing.• Structure your 32-40 hours in a way that works for you.• Join at a point where your judgement and ideas can materially improve the business.• Do meaningful work for organisations focused on positive impact.
The interview processThe process will include 2 stages. The first will be a conversation covering your background, relevant experience, motivation and working style. It will also give you the opportunity to learn more about Call To Action, the role and what the agency is building.
The second will explore your capability in greater depth and include a short fictional campaign scenario.Preparation will be capped at 60 minutes, followed by a 10 to 15 minute presentation and discussion. The task will assess client judgement, project control, prioritisation, commercial awareness, communication and ownership. It won’t involve unpaid client work.
