An exciting opportunity exists for a driven and commercially minded Used Car Manager to join a well-established multi-franchise dealership in Bunbury, Western Australia.

We are open to speaking with both experienced Used Car Managers and high-performing, experienced Used Car Sales Executives who are ready to take the next step into management.

This is a hands-on position for someone who understands the used vehicle market, enjoys buying and selling cars, knows how to structure a deal and wants to take ownership of the performance of a used vehicle department.

The Role

Reporting to the Dealer Principal, you will be responsible for the day-to-day performance and profitability of the used vehicle department.

You will have the opportunity to take genuine ownership of the department, including stock acquisition, vehicle pricing, sales performance, gross profit and stock turn.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead and drive the performance of the used vehicle department

• Actively participate in selling vehicles and closing deals

• Source and purchase quality used vehicle stock

• Appraise trade-ins accurately and commercially

• Manage vehicle pricing and continually assess current market conditions

• Maintain the right stock mix for the local market

• Manage stock ageing and drive strong stock turn

• Maximise front-end gross profit while maintaining competitive market pricing

• Manage online vehicle listings and ensure stock is presented to a high standard

• Monitor leads, appointments, follow-up and conversion

• Assist the sales team with negotiations and deal closing

• Work closely with the Business Manager to maximise finance and insurance opportunities

• Develop relationships with wholesalers, suppliers and other industry contacts

• Manage wholesale vehicles and disposal of unwanted trade-ins

• Ensure vehicles are prepared and available for sale as quickly as possible

• Deliver a high standard of customer experience

• Monitor departmental KPIs and continually look for opportunities to improve performance

• Work closely with the Dealer Principal and broader management team

Who We're Looking For

There are two potential pathways into this role.

You may already be an experienced Used Car Manager looking for a new opportunity where you can take ownership of a department and have a genuine impact on its performance.

Alternatively, you may be a high-performing Used Car Sales Executive with extensive industry experience who understands used vehicles, appraisals and deal structure and is ready to progress into your first management position.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have:

• Strong used vehicle sales experience

• A genuine understanding of the used vehicle market

• Strong vehicle appraisal skills or the ability to develop quickly in this area

• Excellent negotiation and closing skills

• A strong understanding of gross profit and deal structure

• Good knowledge of vehicle pricing and market values

• A commercial approach to stock management

• Strong lead-management and follow-up disciplines

• The ability to build relationships with customers and industry contacts

• Leadership ability and the confidence to make decisions

• A positive, energetic and accountable approach

• A current Australian driver's licence

Previous management experience is highly regarded but not essential.
