Remuneration: $41-45 per hour plus superannuation (range dependent on individual qualifications provided)
Scott Street Clinic is private, specialist, multi-disciplinary health Clinic in the Liverpool, NSW area. We specialise in providing quality care for individuals suffering from severe Opioid addiction in a non-judgemental environment, using current Best Practices to ensure positive patient outcomes. The Clinic provides out-patient Methadone and Buprenorphine maintenance treatment of patients in accordance with the fundamental principles of Harm Minimisation, while ensuring that our patients retain their dignity, freedom, and the capacity to make positive healthcare and lifestyle changes.
We are looking for a Senior Medical Administrator who is interested in, and capable of, organising, co-ordinating, and delivering services to ensure comprehensive care for a complex treatment population, in conjunction with an experienced multidisciplinary care team of Registered Nurses, Medical Officers, and Administrative Clerks. A Senior Medical Administrator will plan, organise, direct, control, and co-ordinate the Clinic’s service delivery, regulatory compliance, and progress towards strategic goals, in direct collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager and the Directors of the Organisation.
A successful applicant will be able to;
Plan, organise, co-ordinate, and adjust clinical services such that they provide the greatest benefit to our patient group.
Provide leadership and co-ordinate overall operational direction to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
Establish, implement, and accurately audit policies, procedures, and professional standards for a multidisciplinary team of Medical Officers, Registered Nurses, and Administrative personnel.
Maintain current standards of care, and work towards continuous improvement of Clinic services to maximise the benefit to our patient group.
Lead workforce planning to ensure business continuity, and to ensure that the Clinic maintains an appropriately qualified, credentialled, and highly-experienced specialist medical workforce.
Coordinate the recruitment, selection, induction, supervision and mentoring, performance review, and professional development of medical and clinical support personnel.
Develop, implement, and monitor clinical governance, quality assurance, and quality improvement frameworks and procedures.
Monitor service performance against strategic goals, patient outcomes, and financial responsibilities.
Directly respond to and reduce instances of clinical incidents, service risks, and potential compliance issues.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative standards relevant to service operation, including those specific to OTP provision (including Work Health and Safety, IR, HR, infection prevention and control standards, privacy legislation, and all other relevant government and service-based obligations).
Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary care team to improve clinical workflows, information sharing with relevant stakeholders, and the continuity of patient care between service providers.
Evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and accessibility of Clinic medical programmes and services
Review service activity, trends in the wider OTP landscape, patient/service information, local demand, and operational performance data to identify opportunities for service improvement and improved care co-ordination for patients.
Contribute to strategic planning and business continuity plans, including the development, expansion, and evaluation of medical programmes and clinical services.
Advise the Practice Principal, NUM, and Governance group on service priorities, whether clinical, financial, or administrative, as well as service development opportunities.
Prepare reports, undertake service audits, provide operational analyses, and contribute to budgeting in collaboration with senior management personnel.
Monitor expenditure associated with personnel, clinical equipment, and third-party service contracts, and evaluate the availability and cost/benefit of particular resources required for safe and effective service delivery.
Liaise with tertiary hospitals, specialist practitioners, pathology providers, diagnostic-imaging services, allied health providers, and any other relevant healthcare organisations to support co-ordinated patient care.
Represent the Clinic in discussions with healthcare providers, local government and the community, accreditation providers, professional organisations, and all other relevant stakeholders.
Support accurate recording, maintenance, and safe retention of all patient health record information, maintaining privacy at all times.
Ensure that all Clinic services, programmes, and operations are consistent and congruent with Organisational goals, strategic plans, and business continuity.
Essential position requirements;
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Health Administration, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
Applicants with at least one year of relevant experience in direct provision of Opioid Treatment Programme services will be favourably assessed.
At least one year of relevant experience or full-time work as a Medical Administrator or a closely-related occupation.
Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
Strong knowledge of medical administration systems, Medicare billing and processes, and legislative compliance in healthcare.
Ability to work indepently while managing competing priorities, and also take direction as part of a multidisciplinary and/or governance team.
Ability to interact compassionately with a diverse and complex patient group.
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to complex or unusual situations.
