Estimator

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator who understands civil construction, is commercially minded and enjoys dealing directly with clients. You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates and tenders, managing incoming enquiries, following up potential leads and helping convert opportunities into successful projects. You will work closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and our construction team from the initial enquiry through to project handover.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing detailed estimates, quotations and tenders for civil construction projects

• Reviewing plans, specifications, scope of works and project requirements

• Preparing accurate material, labour, plant and subcontractor costings

• Obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations

• Following up potential leads and new enquiries

• Following up submitted quotations and maintaining regular communication with prospective clients

• Liaising directly with clients to understand their requirements and project scope

• Conducting site visits and assessing project requirements where required

• Identifying project risks, exclusions and potential variations

• Working with the construction team to ensure accurate project handovers

About you

• Proven experience as a Civil Estimator, Senior Estimator or similar

• Strong understanding of construction methodology and project costing

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications

• Strong knowledge of materials, labour, plant and subcontractor costs

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills

• Strong computer and estimating skills

• Excellent organisational and time-management skills

• Ability to manage multiple tenders, enquiries and deadlines

• A practical and commercially minded approach
