About the role
Banksia Care is a registered NDIS provider seeking expressions of interest from experienced Allied Health Practitioners, Behaviour Support Practitioners and external clinical professionals interested in working with or alongside Banksia Care. The nature of the engagement will depend on your discipline, professional registration, experience, availability and preferred working arrangement. Opportunities include providing services directly through Banksia Care as an independent contractor, working within a multidisciplinary allied health model, accepting referrals as an external practitioner, developing ongoing professional referral relationships, and providing in-person, hybrid or telehealth services where clinically appropriate.
Key responsibilities
Responsibilities vary by discipline and may include:
Speech Pathology: speech, language and communication; AAC assessment and implementation; high-tech AAC devices; PECS and low-tech communication systems; key word sign and other supported communication approaches; social communication; early communication development; gestalt language processing; echolalia-informed practice; feeding and swallowing within professional scope; parent, carer and support-worker education; functional communication assessment; NDIS reports and progress documentation
Occupational Therapy: functional capacity assessments; sensory processing and regulation; daily living skills; fine and gross motor development; assistive technology; home modifications; school participation; community participation; work and employment participation; executive functioning; capacity building; equipment assessment and recommendations; NDIS reports and reassessments
Behaviour Support: functional behaviour assessments; positive behaviour support plans; interim and comprehensive behaviour support plans; participant and family consultation; environmental and sensory assessment; staff and carer training; behaviour data review; regulated restrictive practice oversight; restrictive practice reduction and elimination planning; NDIS reporting and documentation; multidisciplinary case collaboration
Allied Health Assistants: supporting implementation of therapy programs; practising functional communication strategies; AAC implementation; daily living and capacity-building activities; supporting therapy goals within everyday environments; preparing therapy resources; recording observations and progress; liaising with supervising clinicians; supporting participants across home, community and other appropriate settings

Appropriately qualified and registered for your profession
Practise within your professional scope
Deliver person-centred and evidence-informed services
Value neuro-affirming and strengths-based practice
Understand disability beyond a diagnostic label
Respect AAC and alternative forms of communication
Comfortable collaborating across disciplines
Communicate clearly with participants, families and other professionals
Produce high-quality clinical documentation and reports
Understand NDIS-funded allied health services and functional reporting
Maintain clear professional and ethical boundaries
Reliable and responsive
Value transparency when a service is not the right fit
Experience supporting complex, intersecting or neurodivergent presentations particularly welcomed
Relevant recognised tertiary qualification
Current professional registration or accreditation where applicable
AHPRA registration where required by the profession
Relevant professional association membership where applicable
NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner suitability where required
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
NSW Working With Children Check for work involving children and young people
National Police Check where required
Current professional indemnity insurance
Current public liability insurance for independent contractors
Current ABN for contractor arrangements
Appropriate working rights in Australia
Compliance with applicable NDIS Practice Standards, professional standards and Codes of Conduct
