Accounts Officer

The Accounts Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions and the administration of Employment Fund expenditure. The role ensures compliance with organisational policies, government funding requirements, procurement procedures, and financial controls while providing high-quality support to operational teams.

The position plays an important role in maintaining the integrity of the organisation’s financial records and supporting the effective delivery of employment services.

About the Role:

As our Accounts Officer, you’ll play an integral role in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of our finance functions. You’ll work closely with our Finance teams to provide accurate, timely and professional support across a range of business activities.

Role Accountabilities:

• Process supplier invoices and prepare payments.
• Reconcile supplier statements and corporate credit card expenses.
• Administer Employment Fund purchases in line with funding requirements.
• Raise purchase orders and maintain procurement records.
• Obtain supplier quotations and liaise with suppliers.
• Monitor Employment Fund expenditure and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain financial documentation to support audits and compliance.
• Respond to enquiries from suppliers and internal staff.
• Provide administrative support to the Finance Team and contribute to improving financial processes.

Requirements:

Essential

• Minimum of three years’ experience in an account payable, accounts officer, or finance administration role.
• Sound knowledge of accounts payable, procurement, and financial administration processes.
• Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience using accounting software, such as Xero and Dext.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to support team members.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with financial policies and procedures.

Desirable

• Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent qualifications or experience.
• Experience administering government-funded programs.
• Knowledge of Employment Fund or similar government funding and purchasing arrangements.
• Experience working within a compliance-driven environment.
