TRADES ASSISTANT – MATERIALS SUPPORT

About the role

This residential position works a Monday – Friday roster working 10 hours per day. The primary purpose of this position is to support planned maintenance activities through the effective management and control of parts, inventory, and rotable components to ensure parts availability. Working closely with planners, schedulers, Supervisors, Foreperson and suppliers, the position ensures inventory integrity, supports maintenance schedules through the organisation of parts supply, and maintains workshop and store areas, both surface and underground, to a high standard.

Reporting to the Mobile Fleet Foreperson, your duties will include:

• Provide operational support to the mobile fleet department through effective stock control, tyre disposal coordination, compliance with all safety, environmental, and site operational requirements.

• Collaborate with Scheduler, Planners, and Stores to ensure all parts required for maintenance work are ordered and available before the scheduled work date.

• Maintain effective control of rotable assets, ensuring all movements on and off site are documented accurately and processed in a timely manner.

• Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy to minimise downtime and support maintenance schedules.

• Collaborate with supervisors to source and procure emergency parts to minimise equipment downtime.

• Support Trades Assistants on crew and maintenance personnel, by providing coverage during periods of leave, absence, or increased operational demand.

The successful candidate should possess the following:

• Strong organisational skills, including experience in stock control, inventory management, and ordering processes.

• Ability to safely operate a service vehicle in both surface and underground mining environments.

• Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably Pronto.

• Sound understanding of basic maintenance principles and practices.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, and contribute positively within a team environment.
