Social Media Content Creator

Greens NSW Upper House MP Abigail Boyd is looking for a passionate, politically engaged person to join her team in the role of Social Media Content Creator. We’re looking for a creative storyteller who wants to drive real change through digital content. The part-time role (2 days per week) will also include occasional miscellaneous administrative and parliamentary tasks to support Abigail and the team. 

Salary and allowances of approximately $103,429 p.a. pro rata (0.4 FTE / 2 days per week) (comprising salary and allowance), depending on qualifications and experience, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading. There will also be an opportunity for additional casual hours.

Abigail is one of seven Greens NSW MPs in the NSW Parliament, and her current team consists of two Policy and Parliamentary Advisors and one part-time Office Manager and Executive Assistant.

The successful applicant will work to support the small team in the NSW Parliament in Sydney in a part-time Social Media Content Creator role.

THE POSITION

• Hours: 0.4 FTE (2 days per week) plus opportunity for additional casual hours
• Remuneration: approximately $103,429 p.a. pro rata (comprising salary and allowance), depending on qualifications and experience 
• Location: Based at NSW Parliament in Sydney

We're seeking a Social Media Content Creator with experience creating engaging reels, stories and social media graphics. You’ll drive reach, engagement and advocacy through compelling content that grows our audience and ensures Abigail’s voice and message cuts through in a crowded digital landscape. 

We're looking for someone who thrives on the creative side of social media - someone who knows how to turn raw footage and photos into content people actually want to watch. We'll provide video footage, photos, event information and brand assets. You'll create polished, engaging content that reflects the warmth, authenticity and values of Abigail and the Greens. 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Editing short-form video content for Instagram Reels, Facebook and TikTok
• Creating social media graphics, tiles and carousels using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, InDesign, etc) or similar tools
• Adding captions, text overlays, music and transitions to improve engagement and accessibility
• Turning event footage, photos and stories into empowering, respectful and engaging content that helps grow our movement and inspires audiences to turn engagement into action
• Contributing creative ideas for content when inspiration strikes 
• On occasion, carrying out other miscellaneous administrative and parliamentary tasks required for the smooth running of the office 

YOU WILL BE SOMEONE WHO:

• Is a strategic thinker with a knack for turning ideas into scroll-stopping content
• Has experience creating social media content across various platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube
• Has confidence editing reels and short-form video content
• Can demonstrate strong graphic design skills and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite platforms and/or Canva
• Understands what makes engaging social media content, and can create engaging content that feels warm, genuine and aligns with the values of Abigail and the Greens 
• Has excellent written and oral communication skills, including well developed interpersonal abilities and attention to detail 
• Has the ability to work positively as a member of a small team including demonstrated initiative, collaborative work practice and a proven capacity to work unsupervised and meet strict deadlines
• Has excellent organisational, administrative and time management skills
• Is flexible and able to balance competing priorities while working to deadlines
• Is committed to Greens principles of social and economic justice, ecological sustainability, peace and disarmament, and grassroots participatory democracy

Bonus points for:

• Proven record of building active online communities and driving campaign engagement organically
• An eye for bold, creative content, and the initiative to present original, fresh ideas
• Understanding of how to create inclusive, accessible content that reaches and engages diverse audiences
