GM3 is inviting expressions of interest from experienced mining professionals for potential roles at Tahmoor Mine following the proposed recommencement of operations. 

We are excited about the opportunity to support the next chapter of Tahmoor Mine and are looking for experienced people who would like to help build a safe, productive and sustainable operation. 

Successful candidates for these roles will be employed by GM3 and are expected to be based at Tahmoor Mine following completion of the proposed acquisition.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Reporting to the Compliance Superintendent, the Fire Officer will be responsible for monitoring and managing fire prevention, protection and fire-related risks across Tahmoor Mine.  

As the nominated individual exercising the statutory function of Fire Officer under the NSW WHS Mines and Petroleum Regulations, you will help ensure fire-related obligations are met while supporting practical, risk-based decision making in an underground coal mining environment. 

This role is based at Tahmoor Mine, located in the Southern Highlands of NSW, approximately 80 kilometres south-west of Sydney and within easy commuting distance of Wollongong, the Macarthur region and surrounding communities. 

Key activities include but are not limited to  

• Act as the nominated Fire Officer and support compliance with relevant NSW mining legislation, site standards and statutory obligations. 

• Inspect, monitor and audit fire equipment, emergency systems and associated compliance records to ensure they remain fit for underground use. 

• Coordinate fire prevention, protection and emergency preparedness activities in line with operational plans and site priorities. 

• Identify, escalate and support the resolution of fire-related risks, non-conformances and system gaps. 

• Provide technical guidance to operational and maintenance teams on fire systems, emergency equipment and underground fire risk controls. 

• Support investigations, regulator responses and continuous improvement actions relating to fire and emergency compliance. 

• Work with leaders and cross-functional teams to safely execute planned activities, manage priorities and support operational readiness. 

ABOUT YOU

You will bring: 

• RIIERR201D Conduct Fire Team Operations, or recognised equivalent. 

• Strong underground coal mining knowledge and risk awareness. 

• Experience with fire-fighting equipment, emergency systems and compliance requirements. 

• Five or more years’ underground coal mining experience. 

• Strong communication, influencing and decision-making skills. 

• Underground coal competencies, appointments or Deputy qualification desirable.
