Metal Fabricator

We are seeking a skilled and trade-qualified Metal Fabricator to join our busy production workshop. You will work on a diverse range of fabrication projects—from structural components and custom transport equipment to specialized sheet metal and heavy plate assemblies.
Salary: $85,000 - $95,000
If you take pride in clean welds, precise measurements, and high-quality workmanship, this is a great opportunity to work in a well-equipped, safety-focused environment with a steady pipeline of work.Key Responsibilities:• Interpret detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and job specifications accurately.• Perform high-quality MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.• Cut, bend, shape, fit, and assemble metal parts using workshop machinery (press brakes, guillotines, bandsaws, plasma cutters).• Prepare materials, dress welds, and ensure finished products meet tight tolerances and high quality standards.• Conduct structural fit-ups and maintain alignment during welding processes.• Adhere strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and Victorian OHS requirements in the workshop.
What We’re Looking ForTrade Qualification: Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Metal Fabricator or Boilermaker) or equivalent recognized Australian/international trade qualification.Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in structural steel or sheet metal fabrication with strong MIG/TIG welding skills.Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and work autonomously from complex fabrication drawings.
