Part-time Respiratory Scientist

About the role

We are seeking a talented Part-time Respiratory Scientist to join our team at a private respiratory clinic. This part-time position is based at Peninsula Private Hospital in Langwarrin, VIC, offering the flexibility to balance professional development with personal commitments. In this role, you will perform simple to advanced lung function testing on adult patients presenting with a range of respiratory conditions. Your expertise will support our clinical practice in delivering thorough assessment and management of our patients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct respiratory function tests in accordance with clinical protocols and scientific standards including simple and complex spirometry (per and post bronchodilator, diffusion capacity) and FeNO measurements.

• Performing occasional Mannitol challenge tests.

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all respiratory assessments and test results.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, ethical guidelines, and quality assurance standards.

• Contribute to the maintenance and calibration of respiratory testing equipment and laboratory instruments.

What we're looking for

• Recognised qualification in respiratory science, respiratory physiology, or a closely related discipline

• Demonstrated experience in conducting respiratory function tests and pulmonary assessments

• Proficiency in operating and maintaining respiratory testing equipment and laboratory instrumentation

• Knowledge of respiratory physiology and clinical assessment techniques

• Excellent data management and record-keeping abilities with attention to detail

• Strong communication skills, reliable and the ability to work effectively within a team

• Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care

About us

Our clinic provides up-to-date respiratory investigation and treatment for our patients. Our lab operates as a branch of our full-time respiratory lab at Holmesglen Private Hospital, under Lung Care, with close support and collaboration between scientists across both sites. We offer respiratory consultations as a private practice based at Peninsula Private Hospital. Most patients are referred to us by GPs or other specialists for respiratory assessment, and we occasionally perform spirometry on inpatients within the hospital.
