The firm provides strategic legal and commercial advice to major Australian and international corporations, high-net-worth individuals and large family businesses.Known for its innovative, commercially focused approach, the firm is regularly involved in significant and complex matters where clients require sophisticated legal advice, strategic thinking and exceptional judgement.
The OpportunityOur client is investing significantly in artificial intelligence and is committed to being at the forefront of legal AI adoption in the Australian market.We are seeking a Legal AI Lead to drive the practical, firm-wide adoption of AI across legal practice groups and business services.This is a newly created, highly visible role working closely with partners, lawyers, senior stakeholders and support teams to identify opportunities for AI, redesign workflows and embed new ways of working.You will become a key internal expert on legal AI, helping the firm's people use tools such as Harvey, ChatGPT, Zoom AI Companion and emerging AI platforms safely, effectively and strategically.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the adoption and embedding of AI tools across legal practice groups and business services.Work directly with partners, lawyers and support teams to identify high-value AI use cases and workflow opportunities.Develop tailored AI adoption strategies for different teams and areas of the firm.Provide practical guidance on prompt engineering, AI workflows and AI agents.Support teams in using collaborative AI functionality, including shared project spaces, vaults and related tools.Design and deliver AI training, education and change management programs.Act as the firm's internal subject matter expert for legal AI, providing day-to-day guidance and troubleshooting.Monitor developments across legal AI and emerging technologies and assess their potential application.Work with Technology, HR, Knowledge, Risk and other stakeholders to support responsible and effective AI adoption.Help ensure AI use aligns with confidentiality requirements, professional obligations, firm policies and quality standards.Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, knowledge sharing and client service.
About YouYou will be a proactive and commercially minded professional who understands both AI and the realities of legal practice.You may come from a legal, LegalTech, innovation, transformation or technology background. Importantly, you will be comfortable working directly with lawyers and senior stakeholders and translating emerging technology into practical solutions.You will ideally bring:Experience working within a law firm, in-house legal team or LegalTech environment.Strong practical experience using generative AI tools, including ChatGPT, Harvey or comparable enterprise platforms.Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and AI-enabled workflows.A strong understanding of how lawyers work and how legal services are delivered.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.The ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.Experience delivering training, change management or technology adoption initiatives.Strong judgement around confidentiality, professional responsibility, risk and responsible AI use.A collaborative, service-oriented approach and a genuine interest in the rapidly evolving legal AI landscape.
