SJC Engineering is a structural steel and metalwork fabricator and installer, based in Crestmead. Projects comprise a range of commercial builds including schools, shopping centres, train stations, and warehouses. 

Work sites are predominantly in the Brisbane region; however, SJC Engineering has travelled to Rockhampton, Roma, and Sydney for our preferred Builders.

About the job

SJC Engineering is seeking an experienced yardsperson to join our team who will also assist with adhoc delivery duties (MR Truck licence preferred). Your primary responsibility will be maintaining the yard, ensuring an organized flow of steel materials, storage of steel, products, and tools. You'll be a key team member, contributing to our reputation for reliability and excellence in project delivery.

Your duties will include:

• Unloading, receiving, and checking deliveries for accuracy and quality.

• Organising and storing materials and products in appropriate areas.

• Use of overhead cranes and forklift.

• Assisting with yard duties, including maintaining a clean and hazard-free environment.

• Liaising with fabrication staff to ensure efficient flow of materials.

• Pre-starts and basic maintenance tasks for machinery and equipment.

• Operating machinery and equipment (after appropriate training).

• Assisting with loading and dispatch of finished products.

• Adhering to all health and safety guidelines and promoting a safe working environment.

• Performing ad hoc duties as required to assist the business.

• Safely driving and operating an MR truck for material deliveries.

• Loading, and securing fabricated materials for transport to project sites.

You must possess the following skills and attributes:

• Forklift license.

• Manual driver's licence

• Overhead crane experience advantageous.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Effective communication skills.

• Ability to lift and move heavy items safely.

• Knowledge of structural steel products is a plus.

• Proactive and able to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

• General Construction White Card advantageous but not essential.

• HRWL Dogman DG, WP advantageous but not essential.

• Prior experience as an MR truck driver or in a similar role is advantageous.

• CV ticket desirable.

• Load restraint experience would be beneficial.
