Facilities Manager

Floridia Cheese is a successful family-owned business based in Thomastown, proudly producing award-winning Italian-style cheeses for over 70 years. With more than 100 employees, ongoing investment in new machinery and technology, and a growing customer and product base, we are expanding our maintenance department.

Floridia is seeking an experienced hands-on and technically minded Facilities Manager. You will implement best practices in facility management, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while optimising operational efficiency. The role will balance reactive demands with planned maintenance and identify improvement opportunities as well as reduce cost and extend the lifespan of plant and equipment.

This is an onsite full-time position, Monday to Friday with participation in a weekend and on call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Lead all facilities, engineering, and maintenance operations ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant site performance.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and rostering for maintenance team, equipment and infrastructure.
• Manage plant, equipment, utilities, refrigeration, buildings, and grounds to maximise asset reliability and efficiency.
• Conduct preventative and corrective programs, including CMMS, asset management, and critical spare parts.
• Manage budgets, invoice approvals and coordinate the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Lead contractor management, including procurement, inductions, permits, performance reviews and compliance monitoring.
• Lead capital projects, facility upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives, on time and within budget.
• Conduct facility inspections, implement corrective actions, and drive ongoing site improvements.
• Ensure the maintenance department is clean, safe, and professionally maintained.
• Lead, coach, and develop the team, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

• Trade qualification in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, or a related field.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance, asset management and plant reliability.
• Experience in Facilities, Engineering, Maintenance Manager role within manufacturing, ideally food, dairy, or FMCG.
• Forklift License advantageous
• Confidence working with modern technology and machinery, troubleshooting modern machinery and automated systems.
• Understanding of OHS/WHS, HACCP, GMP, and ISO standards.
• Experience and fluent with Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS systems (e.g. WORX, MEX).
• Strong organisational, communication, and project management and negotiation skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
• Positive attitude, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
