Senior Engineer - Dewatering

You will support the Project Manager – Tailings in delivering the dewatering and decant systems for a major greenfield Tailings Storage Facility (TSF). You will provide technical leadership and supervision across the project lifecycle, ensuring designs are constructed to the required engineering standards and meet operational requirements.

You will drive the development of the current feasibility-level dewatering design, optimising outcomes across facility staging, production profiles, quality requirements, construction methodology, cost and schedule. You will work closely with the project, design, operations and contractor teams to support key milestones while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and accountability.

You will initially be based in Brisbane on a 5/2 roster until November, before transitioning to a 14/7 FIFO roster once the project moves to site.
Accommodation will be provided for candidates who are not Brisbane-based while working from the Brisbane project office.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead technical delivery of dewatering and decant systems
• Prepare design schedules and coordinate approvals for drawings and flow sheets
• Review and approve calculations, specifications and technical variations
• Supervise engineering work against quality, cost and schedule requirements
• Monitor progress and identify budget, schedule and technical risks
• Liaise with project, design, operations and contractor teams
• Promote safe and healthy project team practices
• Resolve technical issues or escalate them to the Project Manager

About you
• Engineering degree in a relevant discipline such as mechanical or geotechnical
• Strong project engineering and project management background
• Proven technical capability across tailings and piping systems
• Sound understanding of slurry piping and tailings deposition planning
• Experience in construction management and quality control
• Demonstrated safety leadership and a strong commitment to quality
• Proven capability managing contractors through collaborative relationships
• Pragmatic, considered decision-maker with strong problem-solving skills
• Confident communicator who is willing to raise concerns and challenge issues
• Able to maintain project momentum in a high-pressure environment
