Fidens Support Services is a South Australian, Christian-based, family-run support provider delivering high-quality NDIS and home care services. As we continue to expand our services, we are seeking a skilled, organised and confident Rostering Officer to join our team.
This role is responsible for the coordination and management of staff rosters to ensure alignment with participant needs, approved service models, and regional operational requirements in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHADS) Award.
Working Hours
This is a full-time position operating on a rotating schedule:
Week 1: 6:00am – 2:00pm
Week 2: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
The schedule will alternate between these shifts each week. Applicants must be available and to work both the morning and afternoon/evening rotation
About the Role
The Rostering Officer plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of Fidens Support Services and Fidens Home Care, ensuring our disability and home care services are appropriately staffed to meet the needs of our participants and clients.
The role is responsible for coordinating and maintaining staff rosters across our disability support services, responding to roster changes and ensuring appropriate staffing coverage. With a strong understanding of the SCHADS Award and be confident applying Award requirements to day-to-day rostering decisions within a disability support environment.
Key responsibilities:
Developing, maintaining and coordinating staff rosters across multiple services and locations.
Ensuring participant support requirements are appropriately staffed.
Managing planned and unplanned shift changes, cancellations, leave and staff absences.
Proactively identifying and filling roster gaps to maintain continuity of support.
Applying the SCHADS Award when developing and adjusting employee rosters.
Monitoring employee hours, contracted hours, overtime, minimum engagements, breaks, shiftwork and applicable penalty arrangements.
Ensuring rostering practices comply with Award requirements and organisational policies.
Communicating roster changes clearly and promptly to Support Workers and relevant teams.
Maintaining accurate employee availability and rostering information.
Working closely with Service Delivery and HR regarding staffing requirements, employee availability and workforce needs.
Responding to employee rostering enquiries and resolving roster-related issues.
Working with Payroll to identify and resolve discrepancies relating to employee hours, overtime, penalties, allowances and other roster-related matters.
Maintaining accurate records within our rostering and workforce management systems.
Supporting effective workforce utilisation while balancing participant needs, employee availability and compliance requirements.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
Experience in rostering, workforce planning, or scheduling within disability, aged care, healthcare, or community services.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Proficiency in rostering software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong working knowledge of the SCHADS Award, with demonstrated ability to apply established Award requirements to day-to-day rostering and workforce scheduling.
Ability to work both shifts within the rotating 6:00am–2:00pm / 2:00pm–10:00pm schedule.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities and respond confidently to last-minute staffing changes.
Current Police Check, Working with Children Check, and NDIS Worker Screening.
Desirable:
Previous rostering experience within a NDIS or disability support environment.
Experience reviewing roster and timesheet information to support payroll processing and payroll accuracy.
Experience using ShiftCare or a similar rostering/workforce management system.
A relevant Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Community Services, Disability Services or a related field will be highly regarded but is not essential.
