General Hand/Yardperson

The Company

Swick Mining Services, who is part of the global Perenti Group, is Australia’s largest Underground Diamond Drilling Contractor with the most innovative and reliable rigs in the industry operating Australia-wide as well as internationally.

We are seeking an experienced general hand/yard person to assist our Guildford Site Coordinator with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the South Guildford yard, light vehicles, drill rigs, build workshops and other facilities.

The Role

Duties are (but not limited to) the following:

• Daily pre-starts of yard support equipment (forklifts light vehicles etc)
• Yard maintenance, including sweeping/weeding and general clean up duties
• Emptying bins and ensuring waste management plans are adhered to
• Weed management and some garden care
• Assisting mechanical and electrical tradespersons when required
• Assist the Site Coordinator in daily yard management duties and maintenance planning.
• Operation of forklifts to organise yard layout and ensure cleanliness
• Consistently maintain housekeeping at a high standard
• Dressing parts and components prior to completion of jobs
• Operating the wash bay as required
• Ensure all machines are kept clean and tidy at all times
• Washing and painting of floors as required
• Delivery and collection of parts, components and materials (Perth metro only)
• Assist in the mobilisation of drilling equipment to and from remote sites
• Operating hand tooling as required

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be required to meet the following criteria:

• 3-5 years previous experience in a similar role (yardperson, trades assistant etc.)
• Current manual C Class (manual) Driver’s License or higher
• Forklift licence
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol screening
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and time management

Desirable:

• Trade certificate
