Tax Accountant - Public Practice

Ford McCarthy Riverton is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to join our growing public practice team.

This is a full-time, on-site position based at our Riverton office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated tax professional who enjoys working closely with clients, providing practical advice, and being part of a supportive regional accounting firm. The successful applicant will manage a diverse portfolio of clients across individuals, primary producers, partnerships, trusts, and companies, providing taxation compliance and advisory services.

We utilise professional practice systems including MYOB Accountants Enterprise (MYOB AE) for tax compliance and practice management, together with modern accounting software solutions to deliver efficient and high-quality outcomes for our clients.

This role provides the opportunity to develop your technical skills, expand your client responsibilities, and contribute to the ongoing growth of the practice. For the right person, there is also the potential for a future pathway towards partnership within the firm.

• Preparing and reviewing income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies

• Preparing and reviewing BAS, PAYG obligations, and associated compliance requirements

• Providing taxation advice and identifying tax planning opportunities for clients

• Researching and analysing taxation issues and preparing practical recommendations

• Communicating complex taxation matters in a clear and practical manner

• Keeping up to date with changes in taxation legislation and industry developments

• Assisting clients with business structuring, GST, capital gains tax, and general taxation matters

• Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office and assisting with taxation reviews and audits where required

• Working collaboratively with team members on complex client matters

• Contributing ideas and improvements to enhance systems, processes, and client service delivery

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A recognised accounting qualification or professional membership (CA, CPA, IPA or equivalent)

• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and compliance requirements

• Experience working in a public practice accounting environment

• Experience preparing tax returns for a range of entity structures including trusts, companies, partnerships, and individuals

• Proficiency with taxation and accounting software (experience with MYOB AE preferred)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail

• The ability to manage deadlines and work independently while contributing to a team environment

• Strong communication skills and a professional approach to client service

• A commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining technical knowledge
