About the role:

• Complex commercial litigation, including shareholder disputes, directors’ duties, contractual claims, banking and finance disputes, misleading or deceptive conduct and corporate disputes
• Insolvency and restructuring matters, including voluntary administrations, liquidations, receiverships, distressed transactions and corporate restructures.
• Acting for banks, secured lenders, insolvency practitioners, directors, shareholders and major corporates across a diverse client base.
• Supreme Court and Federal Court proceedings, including urgent injunctions, freezing orders, interlocutory applications and appellate matters.
• Advising on security enforcement, insolvent trading claims, asset recovery, Safe Harbour, deeds of company arrangement, creditors’ trusts and restructuring strategies.
• The broader practice also covers major construction, technology, property and fraud disputes, while its restructuring work includes distressed businesses across retail, property, agriculture, hospitality, financial services and other sectors.

The ideal candidate:

• The team is seeking two Associates and one Senior Associate / Special Counsel with relevant disputes and/or insolvency experience.
• Experience in commercial litigation, insolvency, restructuring or related banking and finance disputes.
• Exposure to Supreme Court and Federal Court litigation, administrations, liquidations, receiverships or restructuring matters would be highly regarded.
• Strong drafting, analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to work across complex and high-value matters.
• A genuine interest in developing across a broad disputes and insolvency practice, rather than being confined to one narrow area.
• Commercial, collaborative and confident working both independently and as part of a specialist team.
