Lime e-Bike/Scooter Mechanic and Van Driver Support

We are seeking a mechanic, who is also experienced at driving around Melbourne's CBD and inner suburbs to be part of a supportive team, maintaining and distributing share e-Bikes and e-Scooters to key locations across Melbourne for Lime, 3 to 4 shifts per week, 6am-2pm (30 min unpaid break) or 2pm-6pm, Monday to Saturday (as negotiated with you.)

As the usage of Lime's fleet grows as the weather gets warmer, this dual role will provide support to both the Operations Specialist team, and the Mechanic's team. Later, there may be the opportunity to specialise in one of these roles.

The Operations Specialist role navigates to locations, swapping old batteries for charged ones in the e-Bikes and e-Scooters ensuring the Lime fleet is parked in a compliant manner around the city. When a vehicle requires servicing, you will retrieve it and return it to the warehouse. The In-Field Mechanic role, undertaking minor servivcing and repairs - in your first week you will receive training in the warehouse, but a basic mechanic aptitude is a must.

You will start and finish every shift at our warehouse in Port Melbourne, where you’ll be supplied with everything you need to undertake your tasks.

Example responsibilities and tasks:

Operations Specialist -

• Utilise Lime’s operations app to undertake tasks and submit reports
• Follow directions to map locations and undertake tasks as required
• Locate and retrieve off-line bikes and scooters
• Perform in-field swaps of e-bike batteries that are low on charge
• Assess, and make small mechanical adjustments and repairs, or retrieve bikes and return them to the warehouse for detailed servicing.
• Communicate with and respond quickly to live requests, including through app use.
• Move share bikes to different locations
• Retrieve share e-bikes from undesirable locations

In-Field Mechanic

• Triage bikes in the field, to determine tasks required
• Undertake basic repairs to individual bikes
• Report on advanced repairs to required and flag for return to the warehouse for batch maintenance

Commitment detail:

• Mon-Sat either 6am - 2pm (30 min unpaid break) or 2pm - 6pm
• Casual role - likely 3-4 shifts per week initially. This may grow as the weather warms up and usage rates increase.
• Vehicle Repair, Service and Retail Award [MA000089] Level 3, at $33.85 per hour. (Note, Saturday rate is higher)

Requirements:

• Valid driver's license - comfort with driving and parking larger vans safely
• Fit and active - able to lift 30kgs frequently
• Mechanical and basic electronic aptitude
• Familiarity with using smartphones/technology (iOS/iPhone experience preferred)
• Familiarity with bicycle components and basic maintenance is preferable, but not mandatory
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions (safety permitting)
• Great attitude and collaboration skills - teamwork is key to success
