About the role

Bouchier Khan Lawyers is seeking an experienced Criminal Law Solicitor to join our team in Ipswich, Queensland. As a Criminal Law Solicitor, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional legal services and representation to clients facing criminal charges or investigations.

The role will be predominantly based in our Ipswich office, but may require travel and appearances throughout Southeast Queensland. You will have an opportunity to expand your reputation and skillset through intensive practice in a highly specialised area.

What you'll be doing

• Representing clients in court proceedings, including bail applications, pleas, sentencing and trials

• Conducting thorough case assessments and developing effective legal strategies to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients

• Providing clear and informed advice to clients on their legal rights and obligations

• Conducting legal research, preparing court documents and briefs, and engaging in ongoing case management

• Collaborating with the broader legal team to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to client matters

• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant criminal laws, regulations and court procedures

What we're looking for

• A Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and a current practising certificate in Queensland

• Post admission experience (1+ years) in criminal law practice, with a proven track record of successful client outcomes will be highly regarded

• Strong advocacy, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively represent clients in court

• Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Confidence to develop and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders

• A commitment to providing exceptional client service and maintaining the highest standards of professional ethics

• The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment

• The capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, to regular deadlines, with demonstrated resilience and an ability to work in challenging situations

• Hold a current drivers license

• Australian work authorisation is required for this position
