Mountain View Café | Maleny, Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Are you an experienced chef or cook looking for regular hours, daytime work and a kitchen without the usual late nights, split shifts or unnecessary drama?

Mountain View Café is looking for an experienced Chef or Cook to join our established kitchen team.

This is initially a casual position with 25+ hours available each week, generally worked across four or five daytime shifts. For the right person, there is a genuine opportunity to progress into a permanent full-time position and take on greater responsibility within the kitchen.

Formal chef qualifications are welcome but are not essential. We are equally interested in experienced cooks who have spent a solid amount of time working in professional kitchens and are confident operating in a busy, high-volume environment.

Mountain View Café is a popular, high-volume daytime venue located at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve in Maleny.

Our kitchen operates at a fast pace, particularly during busy weekend and holiday services, but it is well organised and professionally managed. We work hard and maintain high standards without creating an unnecessarily stressful or negative workplace.

The position will involve a combination of weekday and weekend shifts. We are looking for someone with broad availability across the week and the flexibility to work different days when required. In return, we aim to provide a stable and predictable roster and will accommodate important commitments wherever reasonably possible.

You will ideally:

• Have substantial experience in a professional café, restaurant or commercial kitchen

• Be comfortable working in a busy, high-volume environment

• Produce consistent, well-presented food

• Work cleanly, efficiently and calmly

• Communicate well and contribute positively to the team

• Be reliable, punctual and professionally presented

• Be able to work across different sections of the kitchen

• Have good availability across weekdays and weekends

• Be interested in developing your skills and potentially progressing into a permanent or more senior role

We are located on the coast side of Maleny in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, within practical commuting distance of many parts of the southern and central Sunshine Coast.

Applicants must:

• Currently reside on the Sunshine Coast or within practical commuting distance of Maleny

• Have reliable personal transport

• Already have unrestricted legal working rights in Australia

This is not a live-in position, and unfortunately we are unable to offer sponsorship.

We are looking for someone who can become a valued long-term member of our kitchen team.

For the right candidate, this position could progress into a permanent full-time Chef, Senior Chef or kitchen leadership role as their skills and responsibilities develop.

Experienced cooks without formal qualifications are encouraged to apply if they have the practical ability, reliability and attitude required for the position.
