Who is STAR Community Services?
STAR Community Services is an award-winning not-for-profit supporting elderly and people with disabilities since 1996. We provide affordable, reliable aged care and disability services—including Support at Home, NDIS, transport, social activities, and companionship—to help clients live independently and stay connected. With help from dedicated staff and local volunteers, we serve Redlands, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast, and Toowoomba. STAR is committed to building inclusive communities and combating social isolation through regular programs and events.
Key Responsibilities
Obtain drivers manifest pertaining to that day’s work.
Carryout vehicle inspection in accordance with vehicle check sheet.
Pick-up registered clients from their homes and drop off at predetermined destinations.
Complete all paperwork, including but not limited to daily manifest, kilometres, vehicle inspection and timecards.
Ensure the STAR Office is aware of any problems regarding vehicles or passengers while on duty and report any issues to the Radio Room.
Communicate all accidents and client incidents to the radio room.
Clean inside of vehicle on completion of workday, and exterior as required to ensure a high standard of presentation to the public at large.
Return vehicle keys, paperwork and money received to the STAR Office.
Ensure vehicle is secured at the end of the day.
Safe transport of people in wheelchair.
Utilize or be able to learn to utilize the STAR emails and the STAR Vehicle Tablet.
Participate in training to maintain compliance under federal and state funding guidelines.
Other duties as agreed by both parties.

Actively participate, contribute to your team and wider organizational initiatives.
Advance STAR’s reputation in the community, support service delivery by providing person centered care and services.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Have a safe driving history.
Familiarity with local area and with the Greater Brisbane area an advantage.
A degree of familiarity with major hospitals is also an advantage.
Able to deal with frail aged persons or persons with a disability are desirable.
A good understanding of financial accountability, or the ability to quickly obtain an understanding.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders with demonstrated ability to deal with challenging and vulnerable clients with complex needs.
Well-developed organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
Demonstrated ability with written, numeracy and computer skills to complete record keeping requirements.
Understanding and commitment to the vision and values of STAR Community Services.
Demonstrated ability to handle the challenges that occur in an organization driven by change and innovation.
Conditions of Employment
Obtain a 5-year Traffic History Report from the QLD Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
Medical Clearance if necessary.
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate(s).
Must have received all required doses of an approved COVID19 Vaccine (including Booster Shot) and be able to provide the accepted proof document to STAR.
To hold a valid/current QLD Driver’s Authorization Licence (DA) or a valid QLD Restricted Driver Authorization (RDA) which will be requested by STAR to the QLD Department of Transport and Main Roads on your behalf (Undergoing a specific Medical may be applicable as per requirements of TMR in order to assess the eligibility for the RDA).
Possession of an unrestricted Current Driver’s Licence and access to a registered roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance cover, if required for the position. Position Description Community Transport Driver

It is a requirement of the position to immediately notify your Manager and Business Services Manager of any changes to your criminal history that will affect your employment.
Selection Criteria
•Ability to manage, interpret and work the schedule on the tablets in vehicles.
Demonstrated competency in the use of phone / communication technology.
Demonstrated ability to deliver quality services underpinned by continuous improvement.
Demonstrated basic computer skills, the ability to use technology and online tools for reporting.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a team environment to support the provision of high-quality services to clients.
Assume responsibility for making decisions in accordance with clear and established Procedures and Work Instructions in a client-focused environment.
Proven ability and willingness to support a culture of safety, legislative compliance, quality and continuous improvement.
