Mission Educator

Purpose of the Role 

The Mission Educator is a direct expression of Integricare’s Christian mission, supporting children, families, staff and educators through the intentional and age-appropriate integration of Christian faith into the life of each service.

The Mission Educator works alongside educators to model, guide, resource and support, helping services to embed Integricare’s Christian curriculum with confidence, consistency and theological integrity.

In addition, the Mission Educator contributes to continuous improvement across services by modelling high-quality early childhood educational practice and strengthening educator capability in areas such as teaching, interactions, curriculum planning, learning environments, and children’s learning and development.

The Mission Educator reports to the Regional Manager.

Key Relationships:           

• Mission, Excellence, Learning and Care Committee Lead and Director of Organisational Development: oversight, curriculum alignment and professional support
• Centre Managers: coordinate scheduling, manage day-to-day service integration
• Educators: collaborative partners in delivering the Christian curriculum
• Families: respectful, transparent communication regarding the chaplaincy program and Christian identity of the service
• Church Partners: collaborative partners in outworking a shared Christian mission

Key Activities and Responsibilities 

Model: Leading Group Time

• Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate group time sessions (approximately 15–20 minutes) incorporating singing and Bible stories
• Demonstrate effective and sensitive integration of Christian faith into the ECE program
• Bring Integricare’s Christian curriculum to life in a way that is meaningful for young children and supportive for educator teams

Guide: Curriculum Integration & Educator Mentoring

• Act as a resource for ‘Mission Champions’ and staff teams, building their awareness of the 10 Christian Faith Outcomes as the aspirational goal of our curriculum and supporting them in noticing these in action.
• Build educator confidence in delivering Christian content in the absence of the Chaplain
• Model and encourage an attitude of ‘awe and wonder,’ helping staff and children notice the footprints of God in the natural world

Resource:  Faith and Cultural Content

• Use Cultural Celebration Information Sheets with staff to empower them with a sensitive Christian lens for communicating with diverse families
• Create and curate resources (songs, crafts etc.) that support the creative and contextually sensitive use of Integricare’s curriculum across services

Ways of Working

• The Mission Educator will follow the school terms, using the school holidays for planning and preparation to maximise attendance at services during term time.
• The Mission Educator will work with the Regional Manager and Centre Managers to develop a schedule to support centres and maximise time spent with children and staff.

Child Safe Standards

Integricare is committed to providing a safe environment for children and young people. We believe all children are unique and have the right to be protected. Ensuring their safety is everyone’s responsibility.

To uphold our commitment, all employees must undergo regular National Criminal History (Police) Checks, Working With Children Checks, and reference checks. These measures are crucial in protecting the children and young people we serve. All employees must also read, understand, and sign our policies, procedures, and codes of conduct to prevent harmful behaviour and maintain a child-safe environment.

We invest in our employees, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to uphold child safety, including reporting any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations.

Creating and maintaining a child-safe organisation requires strong leadership. Effective leaders demonstrate personal responsibility, prioritise child safety, training, and education, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. As a leader, you will embed child safety in the attitudes, behaviours, and practices of our organisation at every level.

We have zero tolerance for abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including termination of employment, if abuse occurs or if there is a failure to report suspected or alleged abuse.

Skills, Experience and Knowledge 

• Integricare welcomes expressions of interest from staff of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds who are committed to the Christian faith and passionate about working with children, families and educators.
• Experience working with or alongside children through church, community, ministry, education or cross-cultural settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with warmth, sensitivity and cultural competency
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt approach across diverse service contexts
• Valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
• Completion of mandatory child safety and child protection training

Formal Qualifications, Training Skills and Certifications

• ACECQA-recognised Early Childhood Education and Care qualification
• Familiarity with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS)
• Experience in a faith-based early childhood or community services context
