The Role
The Deputy Principal – Teaching Quality should be a pivotal member of our executive leadership team, working in close partnership with the Principal to provide strategic and instructional leadership across Willandra PS.
This is an exciting opportunity for ideally an experienced and highly capable educational leader to join the leadership team and contribute to the next phase of the school’s improvement journey. The successful applicant should display the capacity to lead sustainable improvement by building trust, fostering collaboration and creating genuine staff commitment to a shared vision. You would be an influential leader who develops others, inspires confidence and leads change through strong relationships and evidence-informed practice.
As the leader responsible for Teaching Quality, the successful applicant would play a key role in driving the school's strategic priorities and improving student achievement through excellence in teaching and learning. You should lead a whole-school approach to curriculum delivery, assessment and effective teaching practice, ensuring consistency and high expectations across all learning areas. A deep understanding of contemporary pedagogy and high-impact teaching strategies aligned with the Department of Education’s Quality Teaching Strategy would be highly regarded.
A key focus of the role is leading curriculum improvement in Literacy and Numeracy. The successful applicant will ideally work collaboratively with staff to strengthen curriculum planning, assessment and moderation practices, while leading the implementation and review of whole-school curriculum frameworks. You should use student achievement data to identify priorities, evaluate impact and guide improvement strategies.
The Deputy Principal would lead Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and provide instructional leadership through coaching, mentoring, classroom observation, feedback and targeted professional learning. You should build staff capability through collaborative inquiry and reflective practice, fostering a culture of collective efficacy, accountability and continuous growth.
We are ideally seeking a leader with excellent interpersonal skills, a strong drive to excel, openness to learning and a commitment to continuous improvement. Highly organised and solutions-focused, you should display sound judgement, manage competing priorities effectively and lead initiatives that strengthen school systems and enhance outcomes for students. The successful applicant should communicate with clarity and purpose, building positive and productive relationships with staff, students, families and the wider community.
Above all, the successful applicant would be a collaborative and high-performing leader who contributes positively to a strong school culture and is committed to achieving excellence for every student through high expectations, quality teaching and shared accountability.
