About the Opportunity
The Manager, Data Science and Insights drives innovation by leading the Institute's Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics capability, establishing strategic direction, governance, standards and workforce development to support cancer control priorities across NSW and the NSW Public Health System.
Essential Criteria
Pre-Screening Questions
Describe the most complex Data Science, AI or Advanced Analytics initiative you have personally led. What was the business problem, what specific role did you play, what were the key decisions you made, what challenges did you encounter, and what measurable outcomes were achieved?
Please clearly distinguish your personal contribution from that of the broader team.
Provide an example of a situation where you needed to influence stakeholders from multiple teams to support a Data Science, AI or analytics initiative despite competing priorities, differing objectives, or no direct reporting relationship. How did you approach the situation, what challenges did you face, and what was the outcome?
Include details of any resistance or disagreement you encountered and how it was managed.
The Manager, Data Science and Insights is responsible for developing capability, governance and best practice across a complex organisational environment. Describe a capability, governance framework, standard, community of practice, or way of working that you have successfully established or significantly improved. What problem were you trying to solve, how did you bring people on the journey, and what evidence demonstrated success?
Based on that experience, what would be your priorities for strengthening Data Science and AI capability at the Cancer Institute NSW?
