The Aboriginal Clinical Lead will be integrated into the Child Protection Counselling Service in the Counselling Violence Prevention &  Response team in Child Youth & Family Services.  The position will plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised cultural knowledge to ensure Aboriginal worldviews are embedded in responses to violence abuse and neglect with a focus on children and families, consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards. 
  
This role includes responsibilities for consulting across Child Youth & Family Services, provision of supervision and mentorship to Aboriginal clinicians, leadership of quality improvement initiatives, leadership in evaluation and reporting on services, development of service improvements, education tools and the teaching of other health care colleagues, and students on clinical placement.

Selection Criteria

1. This is an identified Aboriginal position (An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14(d)of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 NSW).
2. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award. Professional qualifications in Social Work (eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers AASW), or registered Psychologist require a recognised 4 year degree in psychology and 8 years' experience post full registration. Clinical Psychologist require full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with Endorsement in Clinical Psychology (or eligibility to progress to same), along with a minimum two-year full-time equivalent Master or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology or bachelor’s degree in counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) or Occupational Therapy qualification and registration with AHPRA and demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional learning.
3. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in providing culturally appropriate service provision within a violence, abuse and neglect setting with demonstrated experience in supporting Aboriginal staff.
4. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational level.
5. Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical and cultural advice, and development of education tools or programs to support others in providing service excellence.
6. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
7. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes. Demonstrated experience in providing advice to managers on clinical service development, practice change and service redesign.
8. Current drivers licence and a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
