About The Role
Join a dedicated team delivering mental health assessment and brief intervention to children, young people, and their families through home visits and assertive outreach. Working within a bio-psycho-social-cultural framework, you will provide culturally safe, trauma-informed care navigation and support to enhance mental health, social, and emotional wellbeing.
You'll be well supported in your role by the Aboriginal Mental Health Workforce, along with access to the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) education framework, Ministry of Health training and networks, and other relevant professional development opportunities. Safeguards is committed to your ongoing growth through personalised learning plans, a comprehensive orientation program, and regular individual and group supervision to strengthen culturally responsive practice.

You have experience delivering trauma-informed, holistic, and culturally safe care, and you value working in partnership with children, families, communities, and colleagues. Your collaborative approach and commitment to respectful, person-centred practice will help ensure positive outcomes for the people you support.
Requirements
Appropriate tertiary qualifications, professional registration/membership as applicable.Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health, Djirruwang Program), Occupational Therapy which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association / provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.For Nursing, current unrestricted registration with AHPRA & meet the requirement for Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2, hold required post graduate qualifications in the specialty field and meet the experience requirements for appointment under the NSW Public Health System Nurses' & Midwives' State Award.Current unrestricted Australian drivers' license

This includes providing timely, community-based evidence-based assessment and short-term treatment for children and/or adolescents and their families when presenting with complex needs in mental health crisis.Demonstrated ability to facilitate Closing the Gap in mental health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by demonstrating strategies for increasing Aboriginal participation in decision-making processes, delivering culturally respectful services, providing culturally safe environments, increasing the cultural competency of Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal staff, and demonstrated knowledge of mental health issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with experience in mental health and/or social emotional spiritual wellbeing of Aboriginal people and their communities.Demonstrated ability to forge and sustain meaningful partnerships and collaborations with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, understanding the interface between services, demonstrating an ability to apply and share expert knowledge with colleagues and other health professionals to enhance service delivery.
