About the Role
Forge Group is seeking a motivated WHSEQ Cadet / Support Officer to provide practical and administrative support to our WHSEQ Manager across manufacturing and industrial operations. This is an entry-level development opportunity for someone looking to build a career in workplace health and safety, quality, environmental compliance or operational safety. Working under the guidance of the WHSEQ Manager and site leadership teams, you will assist with WHSEQ systems, site inspections, document control, training coordination, worker engagement and corrective action follow-up.
Key responsibilities will include:
Maintaining WHSEQ registers, including training, licences, corrective actions, plant, inspections, chemicals and Safety Data Sheets.
Supporting document control for SWMS, SOPs, forms, checklists, policies and WHSEQ procedures.
Assisting with monthly WHSEQ reporting, including inspection results, corrective actions, incident data and training status.
Supporting scheduled workplace inspections, housekeeping reviews, plant area checks and basic compliance walkthroughs.
Recording hazards, taking photographs where appropriate, raising corrective actions and following up action status.
Assisting with basic checks of plant guarding, pedestrian access, emergency equipment, signage, chemical storage and general workplace conditions.
Supporting the preparation, review and formatting of SWMS, SOPs, task risk assessments and safety forms.
Gathering task information from supervisors, operators and workers to support accurate safety documentation.
Assisting with incident notifications, information gathering, photographs, witness details and record keeping under supervision.
Monitoring corrective action due dates and helping collect close-out evidence.
Supporting new starter inductions, training records and refresher training reminders.
Assisting with toolbox talks, pre-start discussions and Health and Safety Committee activities.
Supporting High Risk Work licence checks, training bookings and competency records.
Assisting with basic environmental checks, spill kit checks, waste storage observations and quality or compliance administration.
Travelling to operational locations, including Somersby, Gosford, Newcastle and Oberon, as required.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A genuine interest in developing a career in WHS, WHSEQ, compliance or operational safety.
A minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
The ability to learn internal WHSEQ software and systems.
Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
A willingness to follow procedures and seek guidance when required.
Clear, respectful and confident communication skills.
The ability to work effectively with floor staff, supervisors, contractors and managers.
A current NSW Driver Licence, or the ability to travel between sites as required.
This is a full-time permanent position within our WHS team. To be successful in this role you must be motivated and be willing to put in the effort required to complete jobs in a timely manner. Attention to detail and highest quality workmanship are paramount.
As part of the selection process, applicants must be prepared to undergo a pre-employment medical examination which includes functional, audiometric and drug and alcohol testing.
