Head Baker

Brumby’s Bakery Highfields in Toowoomba QLD is currently looking to appoint a Head Baker on a full-time basis. 

The successful applicant will have a genuine love of the industry and of baking. They will also enjoy inspiring others to achieve. This role is very much hands-on, requiring attention to detail and a positive work attitude.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Rostering of baking staff including when bakers are on holidays

• Assisting in the hiring and dismissal of baking staff

• Assisting with training and supervising of baking staff

• Assisting the Sales Manager with baking staff reviews and performance appraisals

• Communicating effectively with all team members

• Maintaining a very high standard for bake house presentation

• Maintaining a very high standard for baking staff presentation

• Ensuring daily requested productions are filled everyday and on time

• Recording of all daily production information (doing production sheets)

• Ensuring all customer orders are filled, and on time

• Maintaining bake house operations, including daily cleaning, machinery maintenance and report/fix breakdowns without delay

• Ordering all bakehouse ingredients

• Accepting and checking all bake house deliveries

• Maintaining raw ingredients stock levels, including purchasing of groceries when needed daily, maintaining enough stock for weekend to Monday

• To ensure all baking staff are working satisfactorily and their baked product meets our standards of excellence

• Be first point of contact for any baking issues, including when people are sick

• To ensure all baking staff abide by the company’s Anti-discrimination & Sexual Harassment and Drug and Alcohol policies
