Now, we're looking for an experienced Payroll Services Manager to lead our growing Payroll Services team based in Melbourne.
This is an exciting opportunity for a payroll leader who thrives on building trusted client relationships, developing high-performing teams, and driving operational excellence through innovation and continuous improvement.
The RoleAs Payroll Services Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the delivery of outsourced payroll services, ensuring clients receive accurate, compliant, and exceptional service. You'll oversee day-to-day operations, coach and develop your team, manage key client relationships, and contribute to the ongoing growth and success of the payroll practice.
You'll partner closely with clients as a trusted advisor while ensuring strong governance, compliance, and service delivery outcomes.
As a visible and hands-on leader, you'll be expected to work from the office four days per week. This presence is key to fostering team engagement, providing coaching and support, driving performance, and building a strong, connected culture.
What You'll Be DoingLeading and developing a high-performing payroll services teamOverseeing payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll deliveryBuilding strong client relationships and acting as a trusted payroll advisorDriving continuous improvement, process optimisation, and automation initiativesManaging service performance, governance, risk, and compliance requirementsSupporting client retention, growth opportunities, and business development activitiesLeading client onboarding, service transitions, and complex payroll escalations
About YouYou'll be an experienced payroll leader with a passion for customer success and operational excellence.You'll bring:Proven experience leading payroll operations, managed payroll services, or payroll bureau teamsStrong knowledge of Australian and /or New Zealand payroll legislation, taxation, and compliance requirementsDemonstrated success managing client relationships and service delivery outcomesStrong people leadership skills with experience coaching and developing teamsExperience driving process improvement, standardisation, and automation initiativesExcellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skillsCommercial awareness and a customer-first mindset
QualificationsTertiary qualification in Business, HR, Finance, Commerce, or a related field, or equivalent industry experienceProfessional payroll qualification (NZPPA, APA, Payroll Certification, or similar) highly regarded
