Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic – Newcastle

About the role

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Tomago, New South Wales.

This full-time role is responsible for the maintenance and repair of our extensive fleet of heavy vehicles, ensuring they are well-maintained and operating at peak performance.

What you'll be doing

1. Conducting regular servicing and maintenance of heavy vehicles, including semi-trailers, trucks, and other specialised equipment

2. Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to get our vehicles back on the road efficiently

3. Performing advanced troubleshooting to identify and rectify complex problems

4. Maintaining detailed records of all work carried out and parts used

5. Contributing to the continuous improvement of our maintenance processes and procedures

6. Ensuring a safe work environment and complying with all relevant health and safety regulations

What we're looking for

1. Formal qualification in Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanics or a related field

2. Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle or equivalent qualification required

3. Minimum 2 years' experience as a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic, preferably in the transport or logistics industry

4. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex mechanical issues

5. Excellent knowledge of heavy vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components

6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet tight deadlines

7. Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and attention to detail

8. Excellent communication and customer service skills
