About the role

We are looking for a motivated, curious and hands-on person to join our Technical Services Group and commence a Glazing / Aluminium Fabrication apprenticeship.

This is an apprenticeship that goes beyond standard fabrication. Working alongside experienced technicians, engineers and product specialists, you’ll help build prototype windows, doors and other aluminium systems and test how they perform under simulated real-world conditions.

One day you might be fabricating a prototype; the next, preparing it for testing and seeing how it performs against wind, water, fire or acoustics.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Fabricating prototype aluminium window and door systems for testing
• Preparing and setting up products for performance testing
• Assisting with testing under simulated conditions such as wind and water pressure
• Observing results and helping troubleshoot performance issues
• Learning to read and work from technical drawings and specifications
• Using and maintaining fabrication tools, equipment and testing workspaces
• Developing a strong understanding of safety, quality and risk
• Completing apprenticeship training and assigned projects

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who’s naturally curious — the kind of person who asks “why does that happen?”, “how does that work?” and “how can I make it better?”

You’ll also:

• Enjoy practical, hands-on work
• Like building, testing, troubleshooting and solving problems
• Have strong attention to detail and take pride in producing quality work
• Be interested in fabrication, engineering, mechanics or technical trades
• Be willing to learn how to read technical drawings
• Communicate well and enjoy working as part of a team
• Have a strong commitment to safety

Desirable

•  Any exposure to aluminium, windows and doors, manufacturing or technical drawings would be an advantage, but isn’t essential.

Applicants must also be prepared to undertake and pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing.
