Position Title: Chef – Cook Grade 3

Location: Braddon, Canberra ACT

Salary: $80,000 per annum + Super

Employment Type: Full Time (38 hours per week)

Experience Required: A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a chef in a commercial kitchen

Qualification Required: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Café Gather is seeking a skilled chef to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Preparing and cooking a variety of Australian café dishes for both breakfast and lunch.
• Upholding kitchen hygiene and safety standards by ensuring all food handling and preparation areas comply with health and safety regulations.
• Managing inventory and stock, including ordering supplies to ensure the kitchen is adequately stocked while minimising waste.
• Maintaining the highest quality standards for all café meals, in accordance with Café Gather's established guidelines.
• Catering to special dietary requirements by adjusting menu items to accommodate guests with allergies or specific dietary concerns.

Skills and Experience:

• A minimum of two years of full-time experience as a chef in a commercial kitchen.
• A Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team while also working independently in a kitchen setting.
• Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
• Capacity to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment, particularly during peak times such as breakfast and lunch rushes.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
