Chef - Cook Grade 3

About the role

Café Gather is seeking a skilled chef to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of Australian café dishes for both breakfast and lunch, upholding kitchen hygiene and safety standards, managing inventory and stock, maintaining the highest quality standards for all café meals, and catering to special dietary requirements by adjusting menu items to accommodate guests with allergies or specific dietary concerns.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking a variety of Australian café dishes for both breakfast and lunch

• Upholding kitchen hygiene and safety standards by ensuring all food handling and preparation areas comply with health and safety regulations

• Managing inventory and stock, including ordering supplies to ensure the kitchen is adequately stocked while minimising waste

• Maintaining the highest quality standards for all café meals, in accordance with Café Gather's established guidelines

• Catering to special dietary requirements by adjusting menu items to accommodate guests with allergies or specific dietary concerns

About you

• A minimum of two years of full-time experience as a chef in a commercial kitchen

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery

• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team while also working independently in a kitchen setting

• Exceptional organisational and time management skills

• Capacity to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment, particularly during peak times such as breakfast and lunch rushes

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
